The vast majority of new build projects in the UK where the Xypex crystalline system of waterproofing has been utilised, have been waterproofed using Xypex Admix C-Series because of the additional benefits the crystalline structure allows, plus the unique and complete QA procedure.
This product not only speeds up the construction process but means that there is only one company responsible for the waterproofing element of the project, not three separate companies (designer, manufacturer and installer) as is typical when a membrane is utilised.
All new build structures have a project specific specification published. The specification details all elements of the project including unique drawings for the details. This is agreed in advance with the relevant consultants, contractors and the client.
The minimum thickness required for a Xypex Admix C-Series application is 150mm. If the required piece of concrete is less than this, then a coating would be the logical solution to ensure a totally waterproof structure.
For thicker wall sections where the use of a Xypex Admix C-Series might be cost prohibitive a coating should be considered as the solution. A coating can easily be integrated into a project that has Xypex Admix C-Series as the predominant waterproofing solution.
Every project is designed & specified individually and tailored to the most suitable design specification for each element. This design and specification is created for both new build projects where Xypex Admix C-Series is being used and also on remedial projects where both concrete and other substrates require waterproofing, such as block work/masonry etc. Factors considered include, but are not limited to, joint details, dosage rates, most suitable products, pour sizes, site service and QA, which can be project specific with NBS style specifications if required.
To guide you through the specification, process each area is explained on the following pages, such as standard joint details, NBS type specification and coverage of materials.
For a project specific design and specification when utilising Xypex Admix C-Series please contact the SMR Projects Technical Department.
Projects and repairs are nearly always unique and therefore it is not possible to give generic specification, please contact SMR Projects with your requirements and we can provide a project specific specification.

Xypex have a complete range of products for the waterproofing and reinstatement of concrete structures. These range from a very fast setting plugging mortar right through to a cementitious slurry coating for the eradication of water. Xypex has been used on a large number of projects worldwide where there is an essential requirement for a totally dry environment.
Xypex can also be used to repair concrete that has deteriorated over time and is permeable by way of cracks or joint failures. In this instance Xypex Concentrate and Patch'n Plug is used as a repair mortar to plug and seal these failures even against extreme hydrostatic pressures.
Dependent upon substrate, Xypex have various solutions to achieve a totally waterproof solution when applied to block work/masonry. Megamix I can be used as a cap coat for Xypex Concentrate on masonry structures even against a hydrostatic head.
