To provide effective waterproofing system to the basement area of a new build nursing home, utilising a proven product capable of achieving a Grade 3 (BS 8102:2009) standard.
The client was looking to place the 1602m2 of waterproof concrete required for basement in the largest pours practical. Xypex was selected due to its ability to reduce the number of joints in both the concrete slabs and walls, subsequently lowering the risk of water ingress.
The use of Xypex Admix reduced the number of vertical joints by half compared to the waterproofing original specified.
Xypex Admix C Series – Lift pits, basement slab and basement walls
Xypex Concentrate – All joints between day pours
Hydroswell Bentostrip – Joints between day pours
Due to the structural thickness of the walls Xypex Admix actually produced a level of protection to meet a (BS 8102:1990) Grade 4 ‘Archive’, which was over and above the original requirement. Being able to place the concrete in larger pours reduced the contractors’ time on site and associated costs. In addition Xypex was able to meet the client’s requirement for a 25-year waterproofing warranty.
