A complete substructure waterproofing solution for a 14-acre mixed housing development, adjacent to the New River and reservoir in Hornsey, North London.
The site in Hornsey had become redundant as a result of the construction of the new Thames Water Ring Main and presented specific challenges for redevelopment due to the ground’s high water content. An effective waterproofing solution was sought that would withhold the natural hydrostatic pressure from the local bodies of water.
The structural engineer specified Xypex for this high-risk environment, due to its proven self-healing properties. Xypex Admix C1000NF was used for the in-situ cast concrete, alongside Xypex Concentrate for the construction joints. This product combination ensured continuous, seamless waterproofing throughout the structure.
Xypex Admix C Series – Basement car park
Xypex Concentrate – Joints between day pours
The Xypex waterproofing system ensured an integrated, long-term waterproofing solution impervious to water ingress in a high-risk environment.
