A technically challenging 235,000 sq. ft. office space development in the City of London that required waterproofing to a two-storey basement.
To achieve a cost effective, simplified waterproofing system across the two-storey basement of a steel-frame office block. The original piled design was changed to a raft across the whole site, due to its close proximity to the Crossrail tunnels and Moorgate Underground Station, which sits directly underneath.
The entire basement was cast utilising Xypex Admix and the joints were sealed using Xypex Concentrate.
Xypex Admix and Hydroswell Bentostripwas specified because of the cost and timesaving benefits it presented. Because the waterproofing is integral to the concrete, it is applied simultaneously to the pour process, simplifying the installation and negating the requirement for additional trades or skills not already on-site.
Xypex Admix C Series – All basement areas
Xypex Concentrate – Joints between day pours
Hydroswell Bentostrip – Joints between day pours
This Skanska project is an excellent example of how Xypex Admix can be used to simplify the waterproofing installation process. The site attendance and QA procedures provided by SMR Projects, assisted the smooth running of the waterproofing for this project.
