A swimming pool complex delivering survival training for commercial, yacht and offshore industries. Comprising fire safety, marine and shore side ‘real-life’ survival environments. This purpose-built building has been specifically designed to stimulate realistic, hazardous situations.
With over 200 expert courses on offer, the centre caters for over 5,000 delegates annually in the delivery of professional training.
Built below ground level, the facilities can simulate all weather conditions. Furthermore, the pool measures four metres deep to accommodate underwater evacuation training.
This challenging environment required robust waterproofing, ensuring the structure would withstand water ingress in the most harsh simulated environments.
Xypex Admix was used as the sole waterproofing solution for the pool, as well as all basement areas.
Due to Xypex’s proven crystalline technology forming deep within the pores, capillaries and cracks that may form, liquid penetration is resisted within the lifetime of the concrete. This in turn ensures that it remains continually active for the life span of the structure.
Xypex Admix C Series – Swimming pool and basement
Xypex Concentrate – All joints
Hydroswell Bentostrip – All joints
The installation process of Xypex negated the need for the contractor to employ specialist expertise to do the work. Moreover, additional procedures and trades were not required in the administration of the product. As a result, this ensured that time and costs could be saved, keeping the project on track.
