BASEMENT, SUSPENDED SLAB

Waterproofing to the suspended service yard and basement areas of an 11.2-acre regeneration scheme in Chingford, North London. The site consisted of residential, retail and business units and was completed in 2012.

THE CHALLENGE

To waterproof an external suspended service yard and basements to a 37,000 sq. ft. retail superstore and 24 private sale apartments, in two phases.

THE XYPEX SOLUTION

Xypex was specified for the first-stage service yard slab and basement car park, as well as the
second-stage residential basement. Because Xypex forms an inherent part of the concrete, the contractor could simultaneously place the concrete and waterproofing without additional trades or specialist knowledge.

THE RESULTS

The waterproofing was implemented smoothly and without disruption to the standard build programme for both the suspended slab and basements, saving time and cost.
