Basement waterproofing of a world-class 12-storey office in the City of London’s leading financial district. Xypex was selected as a change to the original specification to reduce construction lead-time and cost.

 

THE CHALLENGE

A replacement to the original waterproofing specification (and external membrane), was sought for two basement floors of a 700,000 sq ft office space. The change was required to optimise efficiencies in budget and the construction process. Where walls were not lined, detailing was required to manage and withhold the flow of water laterally.

 

THE XYPEX SOLUTION

Xypex provided a cost-effective solution that simplified the construction process, whilst also reducing build time. Xypex Admix was used in the capping beam, basement walls and as a topping on the basement slab to ensure the double storey basement remained totally dry. Unlined walls were detailed to constrain lateral water ingress where Xypex withheld the hydrostatic pressure.
